Burger Superbowl a la Plancha

INGREDIENTS

For the Philly Burgers

  • 4 burger buns
  • 1lb 1/2 ou 650 g ground beef
  • 4 Provolone sliced cheese
  • 1 onion
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1/2 cup Cheese Whiz or 2 orange cheddar slices
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • ketchup
  • mayonnaise

 

For the Kansas City Burgers

  • 4 burger buns
  • 1lb or 400 to 500 g ground beef
  • 4 salad leaves
  • 4 Cheddar or Swiss slices
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tomatoes
  • Pickles
  • 1 tbsp of Kansas City Dry Rub
  •  mayonnaise
  • ketchup
  • yellow mustard

 

Kansas City Dry Rub

  • 1/4 cup beown sugar
  • 1/8 cup paprika
  • 1/2 tbsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 /2 tbsp chili

 

INSTRUCTIONS

For the Philly Burgers

  1. Slice the onion and the pepper.
  2. Season the meat ; form into 4 patties.
  3. Heat up your plancha over a fairly high heat.
  4. Pour a little oil on the plancha, cook the pepper and onion. Season and stir from time to time until they caramelize around the edges. Set aside and top with the Cheez Whiz or cheddar slices. Keep warm and let the cheese melt.
  5. Lower the heat of one burner, lay your buns on this side of the plancha and cook until light toasted.
  6. Pour a little oil on the warmer side of the plancha, cook the patties over rather high heat. Brown them (about 2 mns each side). At the end of cooking, lay one slice of provolone on each patty.
  7. Spread mayonnaise on bun bottoms and ketchup on tops. Add the pattes and the pepper onion and cheddar mix. Set bun tops on place.

 

For the Kansas City Burgers

  1. Combine all ingredients for the Kansas City Rub.

  2. Season the ground beef with 1 tbsp (or 1.5 if you like it spicy) of the Kansas City Rub. Form into 4 patties.
  3. Heat up your plancha over a fairly high heat.
  4. Pour a little oil on the plancha, cook the patties over rather high heat. Brown them (about 2 mns each side). At the end of cooking, lay one slice of cheese on each patty.
  5. Lower the heat of one burner, lay your buns on this side of the plancha and cook until light toasted.
  6. Combine some mayonnaise with two pinches of Kansas City Rub and spread it on bun bottoms.
  7. Assemble and season the bun tops to your taste (mustard, ketchup). Add salad, tomato and pickles.
